Description

The John Huber Photographs are a small selection of images from Huber's original color slides, which were scanned by the Library in 2012 and returned to the donor. The images date from approximately 1964 to 1971 and focus on UC San Diego campus events including groundbreaking ceremonies, construction of campus buildings, political protests, and welcome events. Some images feature prominent members of the UC San Diego community, including Herbert York, Harold Urey, William McGill, Judith and Walter Munk, Herbert Marcuse, Angela Davis, Roger Revelle and others. Two images also feature Rev. John Huber.

John George Huber was born in California in 1929. He was a graduate of Concordia Seminary of Saint Louis and earned a Master of Arts degree in 2001 at the age of 71 in Ecumenical Studies at Bossey, the Ecumenical Institute of the World Council of Churches near Geneva, Switzerland. Huber was also a member of the Board of Directors of the North American Academy of Ecumenists, a member of the Faith and Order Commission, Southern California Ecumenical Council, and the founding pastor of University Lutheran Church of La Jolla, at UC San Diego where he served as campus minister. His personal archive is available for research at the Ecumenical Collection of John G. Huber, Fuller Theological Seminary-David Allan Hubbard Library Archives.
